Add custom attributes to products
Beyond the standard fields, custom attributes let you record details specific to your business — a color, a material, a temperature requirement, a HS code.
Add an attribute
- Go to Inventory → Products and open attribute settings.
- Create an attribute with a name and a type (text, number, list of options, yes/no).
- The attribute now appears on every product’s edit form.
Fill attributes in
Set values per product on the edit form, or include them as columns in a CSV import.
Where attributes earn their keep
- Filtering — narrow a list to “color = red” or “temperature = chilled”
- Picking accuracy — show a distinguishing attribute on the pick screen
- Exports — attributes come along in CSV exports
Keep the set lean
Add attributes you’ll actually filter or report on. A dozen attributes nobody fills in just makes the product form longer.
Tip: a “storage requirement” attribute (ambient / chilled / frozen) is one of the most useful — it can guide put-away and prevents the wrong item going to the wrong zone.
