Get the best results from camera scanning
The Klovio app scans barcodes with your phone’s camera — no extra hardware needed. A few habits make it fast and reliable.
Scan well
- Light it up. Barcodes need light. In a dim aisle, turn on the app’s torch.
- Hold steady for a beat — let the camera focus.
- Fill the frame — get close enough that the barcode is clear, not tiny.
- Keep it flat — a barcode on a curved or crumpled surface is harder to read; smooth it.
If a barcode won’t scan
- It may be damaged or poorly printed — type the number, or apply a fresh label. See Label stock as you receive it.
- The code may not be registered to any product — check it in the catalog.
- For a fuller checklist, see Scanner won’t scan a barcode.
Camera vs. hardware scanner
The camera is great for light and occasional scanning. For all-day receiving or picking, a Bluetooth scanner is faster and easier on the hands. You can switch between them any time.
Tip: clean the camera lens. A smudged lens is the single most common cause of “slow” camera scanning — a quick wipe often fixes it.
