Label stock as you receive it
Most stock arrives with a usable barcode. Some doesn’t — bulk goods, items from a supplier who doesn’t barcode, repackaged units. Labelling these at receiving keeps everything scannable downstream.
When to label
Label an item at receiving if it has no barcode, or one that won’t scan (damaged, low-quality print). Once it has a Klovio barcode, picking and counting it is as fast as anything else.
Print product labels
- In the dashboard, go to Inventory → Products → All products.
- Select the products you need labels for.
- Click Create label and choose a size.
- Print to a label printer and apply the labels as you receive.
The printed barcode is registered to the product, so scanning it later resolves correctly — see Add multiple barcodes to a product.
Label location vs. label product
- A product label identifies what the item is — apply it to goods missing a barcode.
- A location label identifies where a bin is — see Print barcode location labels.
Both together are what make “scan item, scan bin” work end to end.
Tip: keep a label printer at the receiving dock. Labelling an unbarcoded item the moment it arrives is far quicker than chasing it down later when a picker can’t scan it.
