Check equipment in
Checking in equipment records that an item has come back and is available for the next person.
Check an item in
- Go to Admin → Equipment → Check in.
- Scan the equipment being returned.
- Optionally note its condition — good, needs maintenance, damaged.
- Confirm.
The item is now unassigned and ready to check out again.
Note the condition
Checking in is the natural moment to flag a problem. An item marked needs maintenance can be held back from check-out until it’s fixed — so the next person doesn’t get handed a broken tool.
Close the loop
An item stays “out” — and can drift onto the overdue list — until it’s checked in. Make check-in a habit, or the records quietly stop matching reality.
Transaction history
Every check-out and check-in is recorded. Open an item to see its full history — who had it, when, for how long, and any condition notes. It’s useful for spotting an item that’s always coming back damaged.
Tip: put a check-in station by the exit with a scanner. “Scan it in on your way out” is a habit that sticks far better than “remember to log it later.”
