Choose the right box size
Cartonization is choosing the right box for an order. The right box costs less to ship and protects the goods; the wrong one wastes money on every shipment.
Why box size matters
- Cost — carriers charge by size as well as weight (dimensional weight). An oversized box pays for air.
- Protection — a too-big box lets contents shift; a too-tight box crushes them.
- Materials — right-sized boxes use less void fill.
Help Klovio suggest a box
If your products carry dimensions and weight — set on the product edit form — Klovio can suggest a suitable box size as you pack, based on what the order contains.
A simple box range
Most operations do well with a handful of standard sizes — small, medium, large, plus one or two specials. Too few sizes and everything ships oversized; too many and packers waste time choosing.
Multi-box orders
When an order won’t fit one carton, split it across boxes during packing — Klovio tracks which item went in which box and labels each one.
Tip: review your most-used box against your most-common order. If your top-selling combination ships in a half-empty large box, a new size could pay for itself fast.
