Track inventory by serial number
Serial tracking gives every single unit its own unique number. Use it for high-value or warranty-bearing goods — electronics, equipment, anything you need to identify individually.
Turn on serial tracking
Enable it per product, on the products that need it. Edit the product and turn on Serial tracking.
Capturing serials
- Receiving — scan or enter each unit’s serial as it comes in.
- Picking — Klovio records the exact serial pulled for the order.
Every serialized unit has a complete history: when it arrived, where it was stored, which order it shipped on.
Why it matters
- Warranty — confirm a returned unit is genuinely one you sold, and when.
- Recall — locate one specific affected unit, not a whole batch.
- Theft / loss — a serial is a precise record of what went missing.
Serial vs. lot
A serial is one number for one unit. A lot is one number for a whole batch — see Track inventory by lot. Serial tracking is more work per unit, so reserve it for goods that truly need individual identity.
Tip: serial tracking adds a scan per unit at receiving and picking. Apply it where individual identity matters — not to fast-moving, low-value consumables.
