Set a product's default location
A default location is a product’s regular home — the bin it lives in. Setting one makes put-away and picking faster and more consistent.
Set a default location
Open the product under Inventory → Products → All products, click Edit, and set its default location.
What it does
- Put-away — the app suggests the product’s home bin first, so the same SKU lands in the same place every time.
- Picking — Klovio routes pickers to a predictable location.
- Counts — a SKU with a consistent home is faster to count.
Default location vs. actual stock
The default is a suggestion, not a rule. A product can still hold stock in other locations — an overflow bin, a second pick face. The on-hand view always shows where stock actually is; the default just says where it prefers to be.
Keep defaults current
If you reorganize the floor and a product changes home, update its default location too. A default that points at an empty bin sends pickers to the wrong place.
Tip: set default locations for your fast-movers first. A consistent home for the SKUs you touch most often is where this setting pays back fastest.
