Track stock in totes

Last updated May 2026

A tote is a movable container — a bin, a cart, a box — that Klovio can track like a location. Totes are how stock moves around mid-process without losing its trail.

Add a tote

  1. Go to Warehouse → Warehouses → Totes.
  2. Click Add new and give the tote a code.
  3. Print a barcode label for it so it can be scanned.

How totes are used

  • Picking — a picker scans items into a tote as they work an order; the tote carries the order to the pack bench.
  • Batch picking — several orders ride in one tote run, each kept separate.
  • Put-away — received stock can sit in a tote until it reaches its shelf.

Because a tote is scannable, Klovio always knows what’s in it and where it is.

Totes vs. locations

A location is fixed — a bin bolted to a rack. A tote moves. Stock in a tote is yours and counted; it just isn’t at a permanent address yet.

Keep totes flowing

Empty totes back into circulation promptly. Stock that’s been parked in a tote for days is stock that isn’t in a pickable location.

Tip: number totes clearly and large. A picker should be able to read a tote ID across the aisle, not just by scanning it.
