Permission modules explained

Last updated May 2026

Klovio permissions are built from modules and actions. Understanding them makes building a role straightforward.

Modules

A module is an area of Klovio. The main ones include:

  • Product, Category — the catalog
  • Inventory — stock levels and adjustments
  • Inbound, Receiving, Putaway — receiving work
  • Outbound, Picking, Packing — shipping work
  • Warehouse, Location — the physical setup
  • User, Role — team administration
  • Asset — equipment

Actions

Within each module, an action is a thing you can do. Common ones:

  • List — see the records
  • Create — add new
  • Edit — change existing
  • Report — view its reports

How they combine

A permission is one module + one action — for example Picking : List. A role is a collection of these. A picker’s role might have Picking: List, Picking: Edit and not much else; a manager’s role has nearly everything.

Designing a role

Start from the job: what does this person actually do? Tick the modules and actions that job needs — and only those. See Create and edit a role.

Tip: List is the gateway action. Without List on a module, a person can’t see it at all — so the module’s other actions are moot. Grant List first, then build up.
